Deep Tissue Massage

(Bodywork)

What Deep Tissue Massage Is
Deep Tissue Massage is a therapeutic form of direct myofascial release that works with the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It’s based on the understanding that many forms of chronic pain, stiffness, and physical discomfort arise from adhesions — areas where fascia and muscle fibres have become tight, stuck, or restricted.

Using slow, sustained pressure and firm, intentional strokes, Deep Tissue Massage helps to soften and release these adhesions, restore mobility, and improve circulation throughout the tissues. As the fascia unwinds and the muscles lengthen, the body naturally shifts out of tension patterns and into greater ease.

How It Works
Deep Tissue Massage uses the forearms, knuckles, and elbows to gradually sink through the superficial layers of muscle and work directly with the deeper structures. This slow, steady approach allows the fascia to respond without force, encouraging the release of long‑held tension.

As circulation improves, oxygen and nutrients flow more freely into the tissues, supporting repair and recovery. The body also releases natural pain‑relieving chemicals such as endorphins, helping to reduce discomfort and promote a sense of grounded relaxation.

This modality is especially supportive for chronic tension, postural strain, overuse injuries, and areas of the body that feel tight, restricted, or “stuck.”
